The Annual EBONY Winter Gala was held successfully on December 9, 2011 at the Copley Marriott Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts. The event, organized annually by a consortium of professional African American associations, drew a record attendance and showcased several vendors that included an engaging 9/11 10th Anniversary commemorative artwork exhibit.

The 33rd Annual National Training Conference was held successfully on August 22 - 25, 2011 in Boston, Massachusetts. The event, planned by the National office of Blacks in Government (Washington DC) and the Region I Council, was held at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. The annual tradition attracted thousands of participants from across the United States.

The 25th anniversary of the Charles C. Yancey Annual Book Fair took place at the Reggie Lewis Track and Field Center in Boston. The annual tradition organized and coordinated by Boston City Councillor (Charles C. Yancey) attracted hundreds of children along with their parents. Several Blacks in Government - Greater Boston Chapter members were present to lend support and assistance. The theme this year was "25 Years Traveling The World Through Books," promoting the importance of learning through other cultures in the city of Boston.
